Obituary of Edmond J. Sorell, Jr.
TROY –
Mr. Edmond J. Sorell, Jr., 75, of Troy, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
A lifelong resident of Troy, Edmond was born on November 22, 1949 in Troy to the late Edmond J. Sorell and Helen (Maciuk) Sorell. He graduated from Lansingburgh High School and enlisted in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge for his faithful service.
Edmond was a "jack of all trades" having been self-employed his entire life. He loved Bingo, scratch offs, was known to be a foodie, but most of all he cherished his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was united in marriage to Therese A. (Gregware) Sorell on August 7, 1971 in St. Augustine's Church, Lansingburgh. Father of Edmond III, Amy (Ross) and Jen. Grandfather of Michelle (Michael), Christopher (Ashley), Danielle and Tiffany and great grandfather of 17 great grandchildren. Sadly, in addition to his parents, Edmond was predeceased by all of his siblings.
Relatives and Friends will be received from 10AM until 12PM on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 in the Chapel of the Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner 104th Street) Troy, NY 12180. The funeral cortège will depart from Riverview Funeral Home, thence to the Gerald B.H. Solomon – Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, where a committal ceremony with military honors will be held at 2:30PM in the afternoon. All are Welcomed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated either to the American Heart Association or to the charity of one's choice. The Sorell Family wishes to acknowledge the compassion and care shown to Edmond during his time at the Van Rensselaer Manor.
