Edmund Budris Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Elmhurst Community Funeral Home - The Ahlgrim Chapel on Dec. 9, 2022.
We are sad to report that Edmund (Ed) Charles Budris, age 100, passed away on Feb. 15, 2022 in Mesa, AZ. Ed was born in Chicago to the late Peter and Petronella Budris. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers and sisters…Eve (Lowell) Fredland, Minerva (Marvin) Schurke, and Albert (Eunice) Budris. Edmund is survived by his beloved wife Laverne Budris of 73 years, along with his children Lisa (Dave) Budris-Chudik, and Alan Budris, and his grandchildren, Daniel McAndrew, John (Jessica) McAndrew, Marree (Clay) Budris-McKenna, Kelseagh Budris, and Sarinnagh Budris. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Eleanor (Don) Feld and several nieces and nephews.

Edmund Budris served his country proudly as a Navy flight instructor during World War II. He then went on to graduate from the University of Illinois, School of Architecture in 1951. He was an accomplished architect, artist, and golfer. Upon retirement, he and Laverne retired to Mesa, Arizona to enjoy travel and golf. He represented AZ in the Golf Senior Olympics and was a daily fixture on his home course at Red Mountain Ranch. He loved his family very much, and at his 100th birthday, he said that one of his fondest memories was watching his family grow up through the years. Mostly, Ed will be remembered for his warm and friendly banter with all who crossed his path. He treated everyone he met with the same respect, and then treated them with a joke or two, even up to his last days on Hospice. Ed will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials in Edmund Budris' honor may be made to the University of Illinois School of Architecture, or to the Mayo Clinic, Scottsdale, AZ.
