My deepest condolences to the Haile family. I was blessed to have worked as young engineer with Ed for seven years in the late 1980's and early 1990s. He was a great mentor and teacher. I owe a great deal of my own professional success to him. He instilled a sense of professionalism and commitment to the profession and community that has stayed with me all these years. He learned of my personal interest in railroads, in particular the great Pennsylvania Railroad and always had a few moments to share with me some anecdote about his time with the "P Company" He would pass me in the hall and ask " So "Trains", running on a "High Green" to which I would respond. "Yes Sir, Clear track ahead." It was his way of checking in with me that everything was going okay. I was always touched by the fact that he'd take a few moments to connect with me on that level just being a "rookie" in our profession. The world and the engineering profession is a lesser place without him. Again, my deepest condolences.
