Mrs. Edna Jane Ellis, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 25th, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on Wednesday, November 19th, 1930, in Woodburn, KY, Edna was a cherished member of the Franklin community, where she resided for many years.
Edna was preceded in death by her loving parents, Henry and Mallie (Daniels) Ware, her devoted husband, Robert “Bobby” Lewis Ellis, her son, Rodney Craig Ellis, and her siblings, Margie Wainscott, Matt Ware, and twin brother, Edgar “PeeWee” Ware.
She is survived by her two children, Steve Ellis (Amy) of Woodburn, KY, and Lucy Bond (Jackie) of Franklin, KY. Edna was a proud grandmother to three grandchildren, Robbie Ellis, Mallory Bond Henderson (Jake), and Cameron Bond, and a doting great-grandmother to four great-grandchildren, Zayden Vaughn, Kailyn Bond, Ellis Henderson, and Mallie Henderson. She is also survived by her sister, Bessie Mae Traughber of Franklin, KY, and several nieces and nephews.
Edna was a member of First Baptist Church in Franklin, KY. She worked diligently as a factory worker at The Kendall Company, where she was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. Outside of work, she was an exceptional cook and took great joy in preparing meals for her family. Her love for her children and grandchildren was evident in everything she did, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth.
Pallbearers honoring Edna's memory will be Jackie Bond, Cameron Bond, Zayden Vaughn, Jake Henderson, Robbie Ellis, and Mike Ellis.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2025 from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory in Franklin, KY. Funeral services will be held the same day, Sunday, December 28th at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with interment to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.
