Edna Embry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Owen Funeral Home - Dixie Highway on Nov. 18, 2025.
Edna "Sue" Embry, 54, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025.

Sue was born to the late Edna (McGuffin), and Hayward C. Embry, Sr. in Louisville, KY. She was a dedicated nurse at Mary & Elizabeth Hospital.

Sue was a bright and radiant light who touched everyone she met. A beautiful, selfless, and deeply caring nurse for more than 25 years, she dedicated her life to serving others, offering comfort, compassion, and unwavering kindness. Her extraordinary love for patients was recognized when she received the National Daisy Award-an honor that perfectly reflected the heart she brought to her work every day.

She never met a stranger. She welcomed everyone with warmth and treated each person as if they were family. Above all, she lived each day devoted to her beloved grandchildren, lovingly calling them her "Angel Babies". They were the joy of her life and the inspiration behind everything she did. Her light, love, and her legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Sue is survived by her daughters, Chasity Taylor, and Summer Nadeau; fiancé, Timothy Brumley; brothers, Hayward "Chief" Embry, Jr. (Elisha), and Rick Embry (Brooke Favors); grandchildren, Isaiah Taylor, Kaienon Taylor, Darian "D.J." Henderson, Jr., D'Airre Henderson, Kaveah Luckett, Rosemary Brumley, and Carter Matthew Brumley, and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 21, 2025, at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Owen Funeral Home.
