Edna Snowden Foley of San Antonio, TX, age 85, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 surrounded by her family. Born in El Paso, TX, February 27, 1925, Edna was married to the late Harry E. Foley in 1949 and they traveled the world together. Edna is survived by two daughters, Brenda Melton and her partner, Dan Crutchfield, Denise and her husband, Russell Hamm. She is also survived by sister, Edith and her husband, Russell Gray, Las Cruces, NM; nieces, Dorothy Lewis, Dell City, Texas and Marian Barker, and her husband, Larry, Lubbock, Texas. Edna was a teacher in the San Antonio ISD at Agnes Cotton Elementary for the last 22 years of her long career. She lived in Louisiana, France, Germany, Virginia, and Georgia as an Army wife, teacher, and mother. She demonstrated courage and resilience many times as a cancer survivor for over 28 years. Losing her arm and shoulder never defined her but challenged her to be a better person in overcoming obstacles. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 26th from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Porter Loring on McCullough. GRAVESIDE SERVICE MONDAY DECEMBER 27, 2010 9:30 A.M. SUNSET MEMORIAL PARK 1701 AUSTIN HWY. Rev. Joe Walts officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fisher House at Brooke Army Medical Center at https://fisherhouse.org/donate/givedirect.html.
