We mourn the passing of Edna Gee who was our church sexton for over 50 years. Edna was a hard worker who worked tirelessly to clean the church and care for the property. There was never a day when we didn't see Edna working in the church –vacuuming the sanctuary, setting up the altar, mopping the floor in the fellowship hall, sweeping the sidewalk. Even late at night, we would see her taking the garbage out. Edna played a huge role in the success of our fund raisers. She was also faithful in supporting the church – giving her offering every single week.
Edna was deeply devoted to her family, especially to her sisters: Lorraine and Ada. After she retired as sexton, she came to church with them. Lorraine and Ada were always by Edna's side - caring for her in her illness.
Edna's husband George was the love of her life. They were always together. Edna was very proud of her son George and his many achievements. She spent many a summer visiting George in Ohio and had a great time with his family. Edna was especially close to her daughter Nora. It broke her heart to see Nora battle many illnesses. She cared deeply for her grandson Isaac; and was overjoyed when her great grandson Isaac was born. Isaac was the love of her life – she played with him and doted on him.
Our deep sympathies to her son George (wife Jenny, and daughters Aleyna Gambone, Bridget Gee and Erin Gee); to her sisters Lorraine Soto and Ada McCarthy and families; and to her grand son Ian and great grandson Isaac. May God comfort their hearts at this sad time.
Edna will be greatly missed. We have lost a valuable, faithful member. We know that she is now with the Lord. We can hear
Him say, "Well done, good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Master."
