Edna Marie Minnick Goodroe, age 96, passed away on August 16, 2025, at The Villas Retirement Home in Cumming, GA, where she had resided for the past nine years.

She was born in Roanoke, VA, on October 14, 1928, to the late James Andrew Minnick and Lydia Virginia Marsh Minnick. She attended Troutville High School in Daleville, VA. During World War II, she worked in an apple packing factory. She wrote a note of support and thanked the troops for their service and included it in one of the boxes that was shipped. Her future husband, who was serving in Europe at the time, was the one who opened the box and discovered the note. When the war ended in 1945, he headed to Roanoke to find the young lady who had touched his heart. They fell in love quickly, and she married Charles B. Goodroe, and moved to his hometown of Unadilla, where she lived her entire adult life.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Unadilla for more than 50 years. She had a 37-year career as Head of the Housing Authority of Unadilla, Vienna, Pinehurst, Lilly and Byromville, and oversaw the operation of 234 public housing units as well as seven Farmers Home houses until her retirement in March 1997.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Goodroe, who she was married to for over 50 years, and her four siblings.

Survivors include:
Sons:
Charlie Goodroe (Carol) of Macon
Michael Goodroe (Joane) of Roswell

Grandchildren: Chip Goodroe, Christopher Goodroe, Michael Goodroe, and Nathan Goodroe; and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Goodroe will be laid to rest in a private service at Walnut Cemetery in Unadilla on Thursday, August 21,
