EDNA GRAY Obituary

Edna F. Gray, age 87, passed away peacefully in her daughter's home on Thursday, January 18, 2024, in Fairfield, Pennsylvania. Dementia took her from us in this life but now she lives forever with God and in our hearts and memories.

A memorial celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, May 11, at 1 p.m. at Lewistown United Methodist Church in Lewistown, Maryland.

On September 2, 1955, she married Nelson L. Gray Sr. in Lewistown, Maryland. They both were born and raised in Lewistown. They were adjacent neighbors and oblivious to the fact that they would marry and live a much fulfilling life extending over six decades.

Edna was born on May 8, 1936, in Lewistown, Maryland, to Nellie and Theodore J. Moore.

She attended Frederick High School in Frederick, Maryland, and graduated in 1954. After high school she worked at the Thurmont Sewing Factory, got married and raised a family.

Loving survivors include her daughters Sandra Gray and her wife Danielle Carbone and Sue and her husband Charlton Gray Sr. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Megan and husband Robert "Bobby" Kmetz, Charlton "Benjamin" Gray Jr. and wife Taylor, and James Gray and wife Traci; five great-grandchildren, Mack and Natalie Gray, Everly and Weston Gray, Connor Kmetz, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. They all held a special place in her heart. Surviving pets she adored were her daughter's pets Cinnamon, Coffee and Meko.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; son, Nelson L. Gray Jr.; sister, Olive Ritenour, half-brother John Ramsburg, and daughter-in-law, Shirley Gray.

Edna had many hobbies: bowling (which she had numerous trophies), sewing, watching HGTV, Hallmark and Gameshow channels, football (Washington) and baseball (Baltimore Orioles). However, most of all she and her daughters spent countless hours sharpening colored pencils for her love of coloring in books. She lived a simple life and never asked for much but what she loved to do most was take bus trips and cruises with her best friend Jackie Keyser.

The family extends a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice of York, PA., and all friends and family members for their loving care and support.

Flower donations for the memorial service are accepted and can be sent to Sue Gray at 271 Zoo Road, Fairfield, PA 17320, Sandy Gray at 203 Spring Bank Ave, Frederick, Maryland 21701 or monetary donations can be made in her memory to Amedisys Hospice of York, PA at 984 Loucks Road, Suite 1, York, PA. 17404, ph. (717) 845-8599.
