Edna Hansegard, 91, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Bethany on University.

Edna Thelma Jacobson was born on July 5, 1934, near Sherbrooke, ND, to Jacob and Elise (Thompson) Jacobson. She grew up in Finley, ND, where she attended school through the eighth grade and later earned her GED.

After moving to Fargo, Edna attended Interstate Business College and began working at Holsum Bakery where she met the love of her life, Melvin John Hansegard, the two were married July 21, 1962, at Ostervold Lutheran Church in Finley. They made their home in Fargo and were blessed with four daughters.

Edna shared her faith by teaching Sunday School at Bethlehem Lutheran Church for 20 years where she had been a member for over 50 years. Edna also served on many boards at Bethlehem.

Edna sold Avon for 24 years, worked for Fargo Public School Food Service for 30 years, and at K-mart for 22 years. No matter where she worked she was known for her warm smile, strong work ethic, and kind spirit.

Edna had a love of learning and creativity, she enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, and she took classes in upholstery, pottery, cross-stitch, embroidery, and even swimming. She was also an avid reader who found joy in trying new things and sharing her talents with others.

Edna is survived by her 4 daughters, Susan (Kevin) Bosch, Minot, ND, Deborah (Robert) Korstad, Moorhead, MN, Lisa Hansegard, Fargo, ND, Lynette (Mike) Newton, Fargo, ND; six grandchildren, Anthony and Kiera Korstad, Matthew Bosch, George Hansegard, Lexis and Tanner Newton; siblings, Willard (Donna) Jacobson, Norris Jacobson, and Edwin (Marlys) Jacobson; sister-in-laws, Arlene Jacobson and Shirley Jacobson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edna is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; parents, Jacob and Elise; siblings, Elmer (Elaine), Orville, Marvin, Robert, Esther (Gus) Deltener, Agnes (Roy) Haugtvedt, Irene (Bob) Nygord; infant sister, Adeline; and George’s father, Aris Mylonas.
