COLUMBIA Edna Richardson Harris, 86, died Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Palmetto Baptist Hospital. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 6, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, 7600 Woodrow Street, Irmo. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Baptist Church, with a private burial in Bush River Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Harris was a lifelong resident of Columbia. Prior to her retirement, she was a manager for the Fort Jackson Army and Air Force Exchange Service. She was known by many for her volunteer work, gardening, and southern cooking. The most important aspects of her life were her family, friends, and her church. She was a generous, thoughtful person and a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Mrs. Harris is survived by her sons, Richard L. Williams (Carol Ann) and the Honorable H. Bruce Williams (Sharon) of Columbia. She was the proud grandmother of Melissa Shealy (Jody), Richard L. Williams, Jr. (Susanne) of Columbia, Christopher Lane Williams of New Orleans, Louisiana, Elizabeth Margaret Williams and Anne Carlisle Williams of Columbia. Other survivors include her sister, Annie Mae Rhodes and brother-in-law, Earl Green, of Charleston, West Virginia. Mrs. Harris is survived by seven great-grandchildren, Sara Margaret, Lindsay, Madeline, Brandon, Tripp, Collin, and Mary Claire. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews and close friend, Sandra Bryan. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Paul Harris and her parents, Margaret Neely Richardson and Willie M. Richardson. The family wishes to thank Dr. Erik Crook and the health care professionals and Hospice of Palmetto Baptist for their compassionate and loving care during her recent illness. Memorials may be made to St. Andrews Baptist Church, 230 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29210 or to a charity of one's choice.
