Edna Kirksey Obituary

"My love is always with you wherever you may go."

These words, shared by Edna Carol Kirksey to those she loved, reflected a life rooted in devotion. Through her poetry and daily example, she made everyone she knew feel appreciated and remembered in prayer.

Born on November 6, 1946, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Edna Carol was the daughter of Connie Max Snipes and Anna Grace Boyd, both deceased. She graduated from Winthrop University in 1968 and married Erskine Kirksey that same year. Their fifty-six years together were marked by love, joy, partnership, respect, and enduring devotion.

Carol devoted herself to her sons William (Kelli) and Christopher (Erin), celebrating their milestones, delighting in their successes, and offering guidance with patience and care. With her brothers Connie Snipes, Jr., John Snipes, Perry Snipes, and Frank Snipes, she shared a bond of steady encouragement and warmth, offering her presence and support throughout their lives.

Her grandchildren were her delight. Carol cherished every tradition, every visit, and every accomplishment. She took pride in their unique gifts, invested in their interests and created memories that will continue to bless them for years to come. During the Christmas season her grandchildren called her "Carol Clause."

For twenty-five years, Carol taught elementary school. She embraced teaching with the same spirit she brough to every part of her life, with kindness, hope, and a belief in the goodness of others. She also loved spending time fellowshipping with church family, reading her Bible, praying for friends and family, and traveling to the beach. For over fifty years she and Erskine spent as much time as possible with family at their beach house.

Edna Carol Passed away on December 4, 2025, after a brief battle with Legionnaires' disease. She is survived by her husband, Erskine Kirksey; her sons William (Kelli) and Christopher (Erin); her four brothers Connie Snipes, Jr; John Snipes, Perry Snipes, and Frank Snipes; and her grandchildren Layla, George, Ella, and Will.

A service will be held to celebrate the life of Edna Carol Kirksey at Abner Creek Baptist Church, 2461 Abner Creek Road Greer, SC 29651 on Monday, December 8, 2025. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m.
