Edna "Irene" Melton

EDNA "IRENE" MELTON age 84 of Crossville, TN passed away November 16, 2025. She was born December 23, 1940 in Pikeville, TN the daughter of Ervin and Myrtle Boston Smith. She worked for more than 20 years as manager of the Buzzard's Roost and the Town Tavern for Buster Winningham, where she made many friends who loved her dearly. She also volunteered helping to raise money for the Crossville Housing Authority to help all she could. She was a member of Stanley St. Church of God.

She is survived by her children- Ronnie E. Norman and his wife Belinda of Crossville, TN, Derrick A. Herd and his wife Frances of Sparta, TN, Michael Hankins and his wife Sue of Crossville, TN, Sherle Paquette and her husband Donald of Ten Mile, TN and Vickie English of San Diego, CA, grandchildren- Tony Hale (Amy), Charity Wood (Don), Tessa Norman, Amanda King (Tory), Kayla McCoy (Keegan), Anthony Herd, Curiston Day, Cindle Brooks and Anthony English and a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters- Mickie English and Donna Gifford, brothers- Waymon Smith, Lewis Smith, Melton Smith, Richard Smith and Herb Smith and sisters- Dollie Hankins, Dorcey Ferguson, Flossie English and Mildred Hale.

Funeral services will be held Saturday November 22, 2025 at 11am at Hood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday November 21, 2025 from 6pm-8pm at Hood Funeral Home. The burial will be in Big Lick Cemetery.
