Edna Mae Posthumus, age 70, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2007, at Prairie View Home in Sanborn. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 21, 2007, at 10:30 A.M. at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. Rev. David Brower and Rev. Gordon Bloemendaal officiating. Burial in the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon. Visitation will be Monday, August 20, form 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon. Edna Mae Posthumus, daughter of Gerrit and Bena (Holtrop) Posthumus, was born on July 1, 1937, in Sanborn, Iowa. At an early age she moved to Sheldon, Iowa, where she attended the Sheldon Schools. In her younger years she was a baby-sitter, dishwasher, and a waitress. She worked for a few years at the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon, Iowa. Edna was employed at the Sheldon High School, for 24 years, as a custodian, before she retired. She enjoyed embroidery, working crossword puzzles, playing board games, and reading. She also enjoyed camping with her friend, Nyla King. They camped for many years, going to Branson, Missouri, and many other places. Edna was a baptized and professing member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. She passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2007, at the Prairie View Campus in Sanborn, Iowa, at the age of 70 years, 1 month and 18 days. Those left to cherish her memories are her brother and sister-in-law: Marion and Joyce Posthumus of Spencer, IA; her sister and brother-in-law: Betty and Gary Kleinhesselink of Orange City, IA; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one niece, Lorraine Joyce Posthumus.
