Edna Louise Sieber, aged 87, of
Jeffersonton, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026, in
Fredericksburg, Virginia.
As the loving matriarch of her family, Edna leaves behind a rich legacy. She was predeceased by her eldest son, John Curtis "Curt" Sieber of
Leesburg, VA, and is survived by her sons Anthony J "Jay" Sieber of
Fredericksburg, VA, Kenneth R "Kenny" Sieber (Angel) of
Winchester, VA, and her daughter Sondra Kristine "Krissy" Sieber Dunn (Mark) of
Fredericksburg, VA. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Pamela J Sieber, wife of her late son Curt.
Her grandchildren include Lisa Marie, Carrie, Kristi, Emma, Curtis, Jessica, Brian, Thomas, Heather, and Travis, as well as 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Tony.
Born on November 16, 1938, in Otsego, West Virginia, Edna was the daughter of Ralph Herold and Omeda Ellen Cook Halsey. In 1958, she married John Andrew Sieber of
Arlington, VA; divorced in 1992. Edna was predeceased by her brothers David H. Halsey of
Fort Collins, CO, Richard G. Halsey of
Heath, OH, and her sister Margaret Halsey Phillips of
Southport, NC. She is survived by her brother Sidney L. Halsey of Florida, her sister Helen R. Halsey Vazquez of North Carolina, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Other surviving family members include sister-in-law Cheryl Sieber Young (Joe) of Las Vegas, NV, brothers-in-law Glenn Sieber of
Simsbury, CT, and Carl Sieber (Christine) of
Clearwater, FL.
After finishing high school, Edna moved to Northern Virginia in 1956 to begin her career with the FBI as a fingerprint analyst, where she worked until 1974. She later worked for Contel until 1989 and eventually retired from the FDIC in 2002. Edna was a loving mother that supported her children in all that they did. She enjoyed shopping for antiques, collecting birdhouses, watching football, beating her sons in games, and creating riots with her famous banana pudding. She was also a dedicated election monitor. Edna will be remembered for her strong will, generous heart, and gentle spirit. Though disciplined, she was warm and welcoming, making everyone feel like family.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Covenant Funeral Service, 10830 Patriot Hwy
Fredericksburg, VA 22408. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Interment will be private.
