Mrs. Edna Amy "Sadie" (Souders) Sipes, 71, of 11774 Kimberly Drive, Greencastle, PA died at 4:00 P.M., Monday, August 23, 2010 in Waynesboro Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born August 15, 1939, in McConnellsburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Claude B. and Goldie (Cooper) Souders. Mrs. Sipes attended McConnellsburg schools. She and her husband, Maurice Q. "Fuzz" Sipes were married on March 10, 1956 in Needmore, PA. They lived at their current residence for over 42 years. Mrs. Sipes was employed by Sylvania Shoe Factory and later by S.P.I. until she retired in 2001. She was of Protestant faith and attended Macedonia United Brethren Church, Greencastle. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Carole Beam, Greencastle, Sharon Kent, Greencastle; a son: Barry Sipes, Greencastle; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; two sisters: Betty Hoffman, McConnellsburg, Alice Strait, McConnellsburg; four brothers: Grover Souders, McConnellsburg, Jay Souders, Dublin Mills, PA, Lyle Souders, Warfordsburg, PA, a twin brother, Edgar Souders, Welsh Run, PA; a half sister, Patricia Hazlin, Atlanta, GA; a step-sister, Rosaline Carbaugh, McConnellsburg and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers: Ray Souders, Melvin "Tom" Souders, Calvin Souders, Blair Souders; two sisters: Faye Knepper, Helene Schetrompf; her step-mother, Ann (Urban) Souders, a step-brother, Carl Urban, and a half brother, Jerry Souders. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 27, 2010 in Macedonia United Brethren Church, Greencastle with Rev. Gayle L. Ruble, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington Street, Greencastle. Memorial contributions may be made to Macedonia United Brethren Church, 11887 Worleytown Rd., Greencastle, PA 17225.
