Edna J. Walker (nee Owens), 90 Scotch Plains – Edna J. Walker, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains. Born in Newark, she had lived in Plainfield before moving to Scotch Plains over 15 years ago. Edna worked as the comptroller for the Plainfield Housing Authority before retiring in 1987. She then worked as the bookkeeper for ERA Queen City Realty in Scotch Plains for many years. Edna was very family oriented, and enjoyed spending time at the movies and out to eat with her family. She was an avid reader and loved completing crossword puzzles, as she often did. She is survived by her daughter, Lydia Sanchez-Joy and her husband, Ken; her grandchildren, William Flagg, III and his wife, Cecilia and Anthony C. Flagg and his wife, Lanita; her great grandchildren, Travis, Anthony, CaRon, Asia and Lydia; her great-great grandchild, Aubree; and her brother, Lawrence Owens. She was predeceased by her brothers, Anthony Montes and Amos Owens. Funeral Services will be held at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 9AM. Interment will follow at the Scotch Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 6-9PM.
