Edsel Fonso Lassiter, age 82, of 421 Mexico Rd, Edenton, NC died Thursday, May 22, 2025 at ECU Health Chowan Hospital, Edenton, NC.

Edsel was born in Chowan Co. On August 18, 1942 to the late Robert Franklin Lassiter and Rado Smith Lassiter. He was a member of First Christian Church, Edenton. Edsel served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years. He last worked at The Town of Edenton, as Dock Master. Edsel was a true, blue, Carolina Tarheels fan. He was also proud to be an Edenton Cotton Mill Kid.

In addition to his parents, Edsel was preceded in death by his sisters, Rosaline, Geraldine and Connie Lassiter; his brothers, Murrell Smith, James, Mickey, and Donnie Lassiter; and his sister-in-law, Carol Lassiter.

Edsel is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joyce Jordan Lassiter; their daughters, Katie Denniston and husband, Jim of New York, and Jennifer Job and husband, Zach of Michigan; their precious grandchildren, James and MacKenzie Denniston; and sister-in-law, Nancy Lassiter of Durham, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, May 25, 2025 in the Chapel of Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, Edenton, NC with Rev. Steve Davenport officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. There will be a private burial at Beaver Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be sent to the Rocky Hock Ruritans, in care of Keith Rollins, 501 Harris Landing Road, Edenton, NC 27932.
