Eduardo Duarte Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Colonial Funeral Home of Irving on Dec. 7, 2025.
Eduardo "Eddie" Duarte was born on March 6, 1938, in Dallas, Texas, to Merced and Gertrude Duarte. Raised in a loving and lively home as the 10th of 16 children, Eddie always carried with him the strength, humor, and closeness that comes from being part of a big family. He passed away December 2, 2025 at his residence in Irving, TX.
Eddie is preceded in death by his beloved son, John, and by his sons-in-law Van, Skip, and Billy, along with numerous extended family members who welcomed him home.
He is survived by his devoted wife and the love of his life, Alice, with whom he shared 68 years of marriage, faith, and partnership. He is also survived by his siblings Frank, Lola, and Mary; his children Yolanda (Rod Bangert), Frances Dowdy, and Teresa Gage; and his grandchildren Philip (Priscilla Gage), Susan (Mark Anderson), Walter (Julie Bangert), Jesse Gage (Sarah), and Kristin Gage (Tony). Eddie was a proud and joyful great-grandfather to Michael, Molly, James, Alice, Amy, Samantha, Ezra, Jody, and Xochi. He was also a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Eddie served his country honorably as a Navy SeaBee, a role that took him to California-where fate introduced him to Alice, beginning a lifelong bond sealed in marriage and faith.
A dedicated provider, Eddie worked hard throughout his life and traveled the world through his career in the printing industry. Representing Dahlgren Manufacturing, he shared his expertise in the United States, Mexico, South America, Australia, and Japan, forming friendships and leaving lasting impressions wherever he went.
Those who knew Eddie remember him as a man of deep generosity, quiet humility, and unwavering positivity. Together, he and Alice led by example-offering guidance, encouragement, and compassion not only to their family but to anyone in need. Their kindness extended far beyond their home, from acts of charity to small but meaningful gestures that changed lives, like ensuring children had good shoes on their feet.
We are profoundly blessed to have had Eddie in our lives. He was always there-steady, supportive, loving, and beloved. His legacy of hard work, faith, humility, and boundless love will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Christian Burial Mass will be 1:00 PM, Monday, December 22nd at the the Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church in Irving. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Memorial Garden in Irving.
Family and friends may visit, Sunday, December 21, 2025 at the Colonial Funeral Home of Irving from 1:00 pm till 3:00 pm, with a rosary following at 3:00 PM in he funeral home.
