Edward J. Barta

BARTA, EDWARD J. Ret. Lt. (P.F.D.) 93 , of Cranston, passed away peacefully April 30, 2018 at Sunnyview Nursing Home, Warwick. He was the beloved husband for 64 years of the late Virginia (Besse) Barta. Born in Providence a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Barta. Mr. Barta firefighter for the City of Providence for 30 years retirng as a Lieutenant. He was a graduate of Central High School and he attended Geneva College in Pennsylvania. Mr. Barta was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the Battle of the Bulge. He received numerous awards of meritorious service during his career. Edward was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church. He is survived by his beloved children, daughter Nancy A. Barta-Norton and her husband Joseph F. Norton, sons Thomas E. Barta and his wife Robin Hathorn and William D. Barta. Loving grandfather of Aidan Norton, Nathan and Elizabeth Barta. He is also survived by his twin brother Louis R. Barta. His funeral is Friday at 8:45 a.m. from ‘’WOODLAWN’’ Funeral Home 600 Pontiac Ave. Cranston, folowed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery.
