Edward "Ed" Bauer

July 4, 1943 - January 1, 2026

Edward "Ed" Bauer, 82, of Lincoln formerly of Doniphan passed away on January 1, 2026.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery at Trumbull with military honors rendered by the U.S. Air Force and American Legion Post 300 of Doniphan.

Ed was born on July 4, 1943, son of Charles Robert and Gertrude Nellie (Britton) Bauer in Hastings.

He was raised on the family farm near Doniphan where he graduated from high school in 1961. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on January 9, 1962. Ed served for 4 years as an Airman Second Class. He served as a fuel Specialist at Minot Air Force Base fueling B52's with the 862nd Supply Squadron. Where he met his future wife, Myrna Pietsch, they were married on July 21, 1963, at Saron Lutheran Church in South Prairie, North Dakota. Ed was honorably discharged from the Air Force on January 7, 1966, following three years of exemplary conduct, efficiency and faithfulness.

Following his time in the service, Ed returned to Nebraska to continue farming near Doniphan. Ed and Myrna were blessed with five children. He enjoyed including his children in the everyday chores. Ed never sat still very long and was always busy, besides farming and raising livestock Ed began to drive semi-truck for area farmers. And after he finished harvest on his farm, he would often help his neighbors. Ed began to deliver refined fuels and oversized loads for Bosselman's across the country. He enjoyed reading western novels and participating in antique tractor trips. Ed loved to spend time and visit with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Myrna; children, Angela (John) Sjuts of Lincoln, Leigh (Steve) Borgman of Wilcox, Elizabeth Bauer of Lincoln, Joseph (Sara) Bauer of Fremont and Chuck (Keena) Bauer of Omaha; 14 grandchildren, spouses and great-grandchildren; sister, Donna (Larry) Harrenstein of Doniphan; brother, Vernon Bauer of Grand Island; sister-in-law, Fern Bauer; numerous nieces, nephews other family members and friends.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law, infant brother, sisters, Dorothy (Charles) Blakeman, Dolores Wolsleben; sister-in-law, Dorothy Bauer, brother, Ronald Bauer and nephew, John Bauer.
