Edward Eugene Bethea passed away at his residence in Gainesville, GA on Sunday August 28, 2022.
A native of Dillon, SC, he was a son of the late Eva Bethea Smith. Ed was a proud Veteran of the US Navy who served in the Korean War. He loved God, his country and spending time with his family. Ed also enjoyed fishing, woodworking and his role as a faithful member of Mud Creek Baptist Church.
Ed is survived by his wife of 40 years, Susan Jones Bethea; children, Andrew Bethea (Julie), Eddie Bethea (Kimberly), Caroline Brigmon (Stuart) and Nathan Greene (Jennifer); grandchildren, Rachel, Jonathan, Mollie, Blaine and Josie; one sister, Carolyn Boyd and Ed's beloved dog, Lola, who brought him joy and comfort.
A Memorial Service to honor Ed's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 10 in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian (72 Long Shoals Road, Arden, NC 28704) and the family will greet friends in the main hall following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family graciously asks that memorial donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org) or to one's local Humane Society.
