Edward C. Blanck

Edward C. Blanck, 75, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025, from pancreatic cancer, in his home with his family and friends by his side. Ed was born November 19, 1949 in Magee Hospital, a son of Herbert and Jessie Keister Blanck. He was a graduate from Penn Hills High School Class of 1967 and Slippery Rock University in 1971 with a degree in education. While at Slippery Rock, he was member of the Phi Sigma Epsilon fraternity. He worked in retail as a multi-unit supervisor for Thrift Drug and CoGo's in Pennsylvania and The Cigarette Store (Smoker Friendly) when he resided in Colorado. He owned Checker's Cleaners in McMurray from 1982 to 1996 until he relocated to Denver. He returned to Pennsylvania in 2007 and retired from Giant Eagle as a manager for GetGo in Mt. Lebanon. After retirement, he worked for retail merchandise companies servicing local stores in the area. Delivering Meals on Wheels for the Washington Senior Center for about a year before his diagnosis gave him great pleasure. He loved classic rock music and all sports, but mostly Pittsburgh sports. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Cullen Blanck; sister, Patricia Cardone; niece, Tracie Cardone; and mother- in-law, Mary "Louise" Wigner Cullen Thompson. He was predeceased by his parents, fathers-in-law, David T. Cullen and Ralph Thompson; his stepson, Paul E. Hollenbach III; his brother-in-law, Philip Cardone; and his late wife, Deb Tatterson Blanck. Ed was grateful for the love and support of the congregation of Laboratory Presbyterian Church and Pastor Scott Shetter. Family and friends are welcome from 10 until the time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 8, in Laboratory Presbyterian Church, 23 Manse Street, Washington, PA 15301. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Laboratory Presbyterian Church.
