Edward L. “Bo” Sherman, age 77, of Roosevelt, passed away September 1, 2024, after a short battle with cancer.

He was born October 27, 1946, in Decatur, Texas, to Edwin and Louella Bank Sherman and excelled at football as a linebacker for the Decatur Eagles, his high school.

Bo served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and received two Purple Hearts. He married Charlene Gail Preston on October 30, 1971, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Bo was a hard worker and that was his life: work. He was always in the oil field, starting out working on the rigs then eventually owning and operating his own oil field machinery rental company, Kristy’s Rentals. He loved his family and took very good care of them. In his later years, his grandchildren became the most important part of his life and he would follow them to their various golf tournaments, baseball games, and dance recitals.

For the last thirteen years, Bo and Charlene have spent the winters in St. George. He really enjoyed the weather and not shoveling snow. He often went to Mesquite because he loved to gamble. Last year he won a big jackpot that made him grin from ear to ear. Thanks to his grandson, Austin, he learned the tricks of winning at the sports bet. He took the other grandson, Alex, to mesquite for his 21st birthday to show him how it was done. It seemed that every weekend the family was in Mesquite to bet, play, collect winnings, and eat Mexican food. They also went to Las Vegas to see the shows, especially his favorite, Brooks and Dunn. The last time they were in St. George, they were fortunate to watch their granddaughter, Ali, compete at her dance competition and win “best of the best all-around.” It made him so proud.

Bo really liked to drive to various places, one of his favorites was Flaming Gorge for lunch and watching the wildlife. It relaxed him to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors.

He had a knack for talking to strangers and when they parted ways, you’d think they were best friends.

Taking care of his yard became a passion. He enjoyed when it became greener and greener – and after a day working in the yard, it was time for a Bud Light and a good steak!

“Fly high, My Angel, for you will never be forgotten, and you will be deeply missed by all who knew you.”

Bo is survived by his wife of 52 years, Charlene; daughter, Kristy (Brandon) Jaramillo; grandchildren, Austin Bo (Hannah Gleason); Alex Brandon, and Ali Gayle Jaramillo, all of Roosevelt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Edna Fitzgerald.

There will be a viewing on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 10:30-12:00 noon at the Hullinger Mortuary. A private graveside service will be at the Roosevelt Memorial Park with military honors.
