Edward Burdette Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 9, 2024.
Edward Lee Burdette, 90, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Rushville, MO to Edward and Evelyn Burdette, Edward spent his early years in Atchison, KS, where he attended school and graduated.
After graduation, Edward married his high school sweetheart, Mary, and embarked on a distinguished military career. He initially served in the Navy for two years before transferring to the Air Force, where he continued his service until retirement. During this time, Edward and Mary welcomed two daughters into their family.
Edward's dedication to service extended beyond his military career. His restless spirit led him to a second career with the United States Post Office, where he worked tirelessly until his retirement.
In his free time, Edward found joy in the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, often tying his own flies, which he not only used on his fishing trips but also sold at local gas stations to supplement his income. He also enjoyed hunting and all things related to nature. Edward had a soft spot for his two dogs, Bandit and Muffin, who were his loyal companions.
Edward's quiet and easygoing nature endeared him to all who knew him. He is survived by his two daughters, Sheri (Joe) Aranda, and Tammy Schroeder; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Evelyn; his wife, Mary; his sister, Leta Mae; and his son-in-law, Scott Schroeder.
Edward Lee Burdette's legacy of service, love for the outdoors, and devotion to his family will be remembered and cherished by all who had the honor of knowing him
