Edward Lawrence Buttweiler passed away from kidney failure at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Venice, Florida.
Ed was born on December 3, 1944, in Milwaukee, WI to Edward and Florence (Douvier) Buttweiler. When Ed was a young boy the family moved to Avon, MN and when he was 9 years old his father died and Florence and her two sons moved to Albany, Minnesota. He graduated from Albany High School in 1962 and furthered his education at St. Cloud State.
Ed was united in marriage to Susan Mader on June 22, 1968, at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany. After their marriage the couple moved to Alexandria where they raised their three children: Stacey, Ted and Robb.
Ed worked for Herzog Roofing until he started Buttweiler’s Do-All Inc. in 1974. His sons joined the family business.
Ed was very active in the community. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Bremer Bank Board of Directors, Alexandria Country Club Board of Directors and President, member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd & 4th Degree, member of the Elks and Eagles.
Ed is survived by his wife, of almost 57 years, Susan of Alexandria; daughter, Stacey (Mark) Suchy of Alexandria; sons: Ted (Gaia) of Alexandria, Robb (Lindsey) of Alexandria; 8 grandchildren: Lydia Perry, William Suchy, Aidan Buttweiler, Evan Buttweiler, Riese Kluver, Clare Buttweiler, Henry Buttweiler and George Buttweiler; sister-in-law, Maxine Buttweiler; brother-in-laws: Herb (Carol) Mader, Dean (Dee) Mader.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents: Edward Sr. and Florence Douvier Boucher; brother, Larry.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 PM. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Service will be live streamed for those unable to attend just click on live stream below right before the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Heart of the Nation TV Mass PO Box 14428 Milwaukee, WI 53214 and St. Mary’s School 420 Irving Street Alexandria, MN 56308.
