Edward J. Catapane, Age of 89 of N. Babylon, NY Peacefully entered eternal rest on Sunday July 28, 2024.
Beloved son of the late Louis and Grace Catapane. Survived by his wife of 67 years Barbara Catapane, their four children: Elizabeth Christian of West Palm Beach, FL, Donna Johnson (husband Kurt) of Dix Hills, NY, John Catapane (wife Kim) of N. Babylon, NY, and Edward Catapane of Delray Beach, FL. Loving and cherished grandfather of nine: Christina, Nicholas, Blake, Deanna, Brandon, Dylan, Tyler, Gianna, and Justina. Great-grandfather of three: Talan, Danica, and Sloane as well as many nieces and nephews.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on May 11, 1935, Edward was a man of family values and integrity, great patience and unconditional love to all. A graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, as well as the United States Army and a Veteran of the Korean War. Edward also held a pilot's license for many years. He was involved in many community activities and organizations, such as serving as Cub Scouts Troop Leader (Pack 112), and coach of Little League baseball and football. Edward spent most of his life in the printing industry, was passionate about his work and found great joy in his career. From the early days of "setting type", to the advanced and new "color printing", he always said," If you enjoy your job, it isn't work". He also worked for the Internal Revenue Service. Edward touched so many throughout his life with kindness and generosity, along with wisdom, stories and many jokes.
Reposing at Mangano Family Funeral Home, 1701 Deer Park, NY, 11729. Visiting hours Thursday August 1, 2024, from 4-8pm. Interment Friday August 2, 2024, at 10am at Funeral home immediately followed by military escort to St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY, 11735.
