We thank God for the life and service of Prof. Cooper. I was honored to co-edit the book, STROKE IN BLACKS, with him twenty five years ago. He was a leader and role model for generations. My sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

When I was a young girl my grandmother use to say my cousins In Columbia are doctors ...years later I moved to Philadelphia and worked at the largest minority CPA firm Mitchell & Titus and I was reviewing the client list and saw Dr. Cooper´s name and I asked the Partner to please let me know when he came to the office and I told him we are related ... my grandma is a Cooper ... Dr. And Mrs. Cooper came to the office and we had a long conversation and stayed in touch. I still have a note that he sent me. He said he would not be able to attend the Cooper -Jackson reunion in 1992 in Columbia, South Carolina. Noble and his family attended. The north Coopers met the south Coopers. God rest his soul...

By example, he shared that excellence is recognized and rewarded and that excellence in a physician includes empathy, kindness, wisdom and truth. My sincere condolences for family and friends,

Doctor Cooper has been a beacon of light in my life since I attended Medical School at the University of Pennsylvania from 1969-1973. He was my mentor and my friend. I became a Cardiologist and he became one of my greatest champions throughout my career. He is loved by thousands who have been influenced by his brilliant mind and powerful vision of providing outstanding health care to all regardless of their race or financial circumstances. His foot print will never be erased.
