Edward Daly Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hallowell & James Funeral Home - Countryside on Jan. 20, 2026.
Edward Daly, age 79, of LaGrange Highlands, passed away peacefully on January 11th, 2026. Beloved husband of Elaine; loving father of Cassandra (David) Koopman, Sheila Daly (Christopher Vasquez), and Ashley (Thomas "T.J.") Hull; cherished grandfather of Kendra, Derick, and Alex Koopman, Lainey and Piper Vasquez, Blake and Hunter Hull; dear son of the late Raymond and Carrie; devoted brother of the late Ruth Leonchik, the late Raymond Daly Jr., the late Barbara Cox, the late David Daly, and the late Richard Daly; survived by his siblings Donna (Fred) Plesha and James (Angie) Daly; fond uncle and friend of many.

Edward was a lifelong builder and problem-solver. From a young age, he could often be found building cars from the frame up, dismantling and reconstructing machines to make them more efficient, and fixing just about anything that broke in a household. He built structures to house the small (and ever-growing) zoo his children were raised alongside, was fiercely protective of his family, and could always be counted on to start a warm fire on a cold winter day.

He was also a gifted storyteller, always ready with a story, even if you had heard it a hundred times before, and always telling it as if it were the first. His hands were rarely still, and through his precision, work ethic, and deeply disciplined, principled nature, he left a lasting mark on all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the National Kidney Foundation or St. Jude's Children Hospital are greatly appreciated.

Visitation 3 to 9pm on Thursday, January 22nd at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside.

Burial will take place on Friday, January 23rd at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace. Family and invited guests are asked to meet at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th Street, Countryside, by 9:30 a.m. The procession to Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery will depart promptly at 10:00 a.m.
