Edward day Obituary

Edward Lee Day, known affectionately as Ed to his friends and family, left this world on May 22, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on September 3, 1950, in Odessa, Texas, Ed's journey through life was marked by an unwavering spirit of love, intelligence, and friendliness that touched all who knew him. He passed away peacefully in Kingsland, Texas.

Ed's early life in Odessa laid the foundation for a man who would be known for his integrity and warmth. After graduating from Odessa High School, he furthered his education at Texas Tech in Lubbock.

For 34 years, Ed dedicated his professional life to Chevron, working diligently in West Texas locations such as Crane and Wickett. His commitment and hard work were evident to all, and upon his retirement in 2015, he left behind a legacy of respect and admiration among his colleagues.

Music was Ed's passion, and his guitars were among his most treasured companions. Whether strumming chords or singing in the choir, Ed's musical talents were a source of joy. His love for music was paralleled only by his wonderful sense of humor, which could light up a room and bring smiles to the faces of those around him.

Ed's community involvement was a testament to his desire to make a positive impact on the world. He was a proud member of the Kingsland Masonic Lodge #1424 and the Order of Eastern Star #1118. These associations were not just part of his routine; they were extensions of his commitment to service and fellowship.

Those who knew Ed best would describe him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Karla Jo Rasmussen Day, with whom he shared a life full of love and cherished moments. His legacy continues through his children, Leland, Jon Micheal, Edward, and Erin, and his nine grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan, Eric, Jayden, Conner, Ayden, Alexis, Shelby, and Jaxon, who will carry forward the memories and lessons he imparted.

Ed was preceded in death by his mother Myrtle Scott Letterman, Aunt Sue Beard, and Cousin Michael Beard.

A special mention must be made of Ray Smith, Ed's dear friend who he considered a brother. Their friendship was a source of strength and camaraderie that stood the test of time, and Ray's presence in Ed's life was a constant reminder of the enduring power of true friendship.

As we bid farewell to Ed, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with music, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to family and friends. His story does not end here, for in each note of a guitar and in the hearts of his loved ones, Edward Lee Day's melody will play on.

I´m sorry for your loss as the above statement was so very true of this man. I worked with Ed in Wickett through the 90´s. He was a great man of integrity and always carried out what he said he would do. Wish only they were more like Him Today! Blessing to the family during this time of short separation.
