Edward G. Diggins

Edward G. "Squeaks" Diggins, age 89, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, formerly of Chester, PA, died on Monday, October 2, 2023. Squeaks began in fire service as a member of the former Moyamensing Hook & Ladder Company #1, Chester PA, and then later becoming a career member of Chester Station #81, until his retirement after 40 years of service. During his career in Chester, Ed had responded to the Wade Dump Fire. Eddie was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving from 1957-1959 and was stationed in Hawaii. Eddie enjoyed deer and quail hunting. He enjoyed walking the boardwalk. Son of the late Frank R. and Helen M. (Kelly) Diggins; Husband of the late Barbara and Margaret; brother of the late Thomas A. Diggins, Robert J. Diggins and Kathryn J. Kleber; Uncle of the late John Hladasz, Jr. and Peter Hladasz, III. Survivors: Sisters: Mary Elizabeth Diggins of Middletown Twp., Media, PA., Frances (Thomas) Williams of Middletown Twp., Media, PA., Rita (John) Hladasz of Middletown Twp., Media, PA. Brother: Raymond (Kathy) Diggins of Aston, PA. Step-Daughter: Sandra Lee Stanaitis. Also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Visitation: Monday, October 9th from 6:00-8:00PM and Tuesday, October 10th from 10:00-11:15AM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063. Funeral Service: Tuesday, October 10th at 11:30AM at the funeral home. Interment: SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
