Edward P. Donohue

March 12, 1949 - June 1, 2025

GLENS FALLS - Edward P. Donohue, 76, of Glens Falls, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2025.

Born March 12, 1949, he was the son of the late Edward G. and Helen (Maloney) Donohue.

He was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy, class of 1968, and went on to graduate from Siena College in 1972.

Ed wore many hats in life. He sold insurance and Agway, worked at Radio Shack, Beaty Real Estate Appraisals, served as 1st Ward Glens Falls City Councilman, coached freshman football at St. Mary's with his friend and head coach, Doug Fiore, and bartended at Sippy's.

He loved watching sports, the New York Mets in baseball, Arizona Cardinals in Football, and New York Islanders in hockey. He enjoyed watching horseracing, especially at Saratoga Race Course and later became a horseracing owner with Vipstable. He was an original season ticket holder for the Adirondack Red Wings and loved seeing former Red Wings go on to have NHL careers. He loved the East End of Glens Falls and would frequent baseball games at East Field. Ed was also a long time member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

In addition to his parents, his brother, Daniel J. Donohue, predecease him.

Left to honor his legacy is his wife, Colleen Casey O'Connor Donohue; his sons, Daniel E. (Kimberly) Donohue and Edwin T. (Melissa) O'Connor; his sister, Kathryn Sexton; his sister-in-law, Mary Britt; his grandchildren, Jessica (Jon) Morticelli and Kaitlin (Christopher Johnson) O'Connor; his great-grandchildren, Justin and Jordyn Morticelli along with several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2025 at St. Mary's Church, 62 Warren Street, Glens Falls, New York.

Family and friends may call on Sunday, June 8, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Singleton Sullivan Potter Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the VFW Post 2475, 30 Cooper St., Glens Falls, NY.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Glens Falls Hospital and The Pines of Glens Falls for the exceptional love and care Ed received during this difficult time.
