Edward Anthony Ferrari, 83, of Woodbridge, Virginia, and formerly of Windsor Locks, Connecticut, passed away on October 7, 2025, surrounded by his family.
He was the son of the late Louis and Kathryn "Betty" (Shaughnessy) Ferrari of Windsor Locks. Ed grew up in Windsor Locks and graduated from Windsor Locks High School.
Ed's life was marked by a deep commitment to public service, most notably through his role as First Selectman of Windsor Locks. In this capacity, he worked tirelessly to strengthen his hometown, always guided by a sense of responsibility and care for the people he served. His leadership helped shape the community in meaningful ways, and his legacy continues to live on in the town he loved so dearly.
In addition to serving as First Selectman, Edward also contributed as President of the Windsor Locks Rotary, Chair of the Windsor Locks Democratic Town Committee, a member of the Board of Selectmen, and a member of the Fire Commission. Through these positions, he dedicated himself to improving the lives of his neighbors and building a stronger community.
Beyond his civic life, Ed built a career as Sales Manager at Brookman Ford and later with the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles. Upon his retirement, he transported Senior Citizens for the Windsor Locks Senior Citizen Center. His happiest moments, however, came with his family and friends, especially summers spent at Roy Carpenter's Beach in Matunuck, Rhode Island.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra; his son, Shaun, and daughter-in-law, Maribel; and his cherished granddaughter, Sage. He was also a proud step-grandfather to Evan, Caleb, and Troy. Edward is further survived by his brothers, Dennis and his wife Leigh and John and his wife Cathy; his sisters, Bernadette and Eileen and her partner Allen; his sister-in-law Claudia; several nieces and nephews and his dear friends, Jeff Ives, Ken McCauley, and Gary Merrigan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Windsor Locks Dollars for Scholars, PO Box 653, Windsor Locks, CT 06096, or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
Edward will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and as a dedicated public servant whose time as First Selectman of Windsor Locks embodied his lifelong belief in community, service, and leadership.
Edward's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 4-6 PM at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at St. Mary Church, 42 Spring Street, Windsor Locks. Please meet directly at the church. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
