Edward Flory Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 18, 2026.
Edward Charles Flory Jr., affectionately known as Ed, passed away on February 14, 2026, in Seminole, Florida, United States. Born on September 10, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, Edward dedicated his life to teaching, mentoring, and inspiring many young athletes and students.

Ed was first and foremost a dedicated teacher of health and physical education at Hillside Junior High School in the Parma City School District. His career spanned 28 and a half years, during which he served as Assistant Principal at both Hillside and Greenbriar Junior High Schools. Known to his colleagues and students as Coach Flory, he coached a wide range of sports, including football, basketball, and wrestling. His influence extended beyond the field, as he mentored numerous students who went on to become educators and coaches themselves, leaving a lasting legacy in the Parma Schools.

Beyond his professional life, Ed had a multifaceted career. He worked as a bus driver for Greyhound and Cleveland Southeastern Trails, drove a gas truck for Marathon, and served as a Dispatch Analyst for them for 11 years. After retiring from education, he consulted and served as CEO for his own companies for 18 years, demonstrating his versatility and commitment to his work.

Edward's passions were deeply rooted in sports, music, and the outdoors. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Ridgewood United Methodist youth group. His love for music began early; he played the guitar and was part of bands like "The Firelords," which even appeared on television. Throughout his life, he played in various bands, including a country band at his Baptist church, where he also taught Bible classes and played music with the group "God's Pickers."

Ed's religious journey began in Ridgewood United Methodist Church and continued in his later years at Indian Rocks Baptist Church in Florida, where he actively shared the word of God through his teachings and music.

Edward is survived by his wife, Diana Flory, his sisters Carole Roob and Diane Ging, his children Timothy Flory (Carolyn) and Paula (Flory) Stadalsky, and his grandchildren Danny, Samantha, Carl, Joshua, Jacob, Alexis, Caden, and Emma, as well as great-grandchildren Aurora, William, and Adriana. He is united in Heaven with his son, Daniel, and his parents, Edward Charles Flory, Sr. and Stella (Musial) Flory.

Ed's life was a testament to his dedication to his family, his community, and his students. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and the enduring impact he made as a mentor, coach, and friend. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

A memorial service will be held privately. A Celebration of Life will honor Edward at a later date for all of his Beloved Friends and Family.

Mr. Flory was a man of great faith, a man who had a far-reaching impact on many lives and he will be sorely missed by many people- especially his family. I knew Mr. F around 40 to 50 years , from the days he worked in 7 Hills at the Calvin Park Rec Hall to now on Facebook. We had many personal chats on Facebook, which I will always cherish in the days & years to come. Thanks for the memories, Mr. F- I hope you are enjoying playing some music up in heaven-glad to have known you.

Condolences to your family. When I last spoke with Ed, he said God was with him. He knew the Lord and was strong. Ed was my first assistant wrestling coach at Parma Senior High. We had three great years coaching a great group of wrestlers. They often mention what a great coach and person Ed was not only was a coach but a friend to me. My wife Linda and I would visit after the matches to hash over wins and losses. In 1993 Ed became the assistant principal at Greenbriar Jr.High my last year of teaching at Parma. We were Parma wrestlers, Parma teachers, I was his boss in coaching and he was my boss at the end of teaching what a run. On occasion Ed would call me about wrestling he was involved with in Florida. I know he is with his Savior. May we meet again. Linda and I are believers also and wish blessings to the family. It was great to know his life was full. Linda and Rich Fleming

This is Roger Steck. Ed and I were school mates at Parma High and Hiram College. We wrestled for our schools. Ed was very good. We were friends. We were in touch with each other until the end. We won wrestling tournaments together. Ed was a good coach. He brought good character to all the wrestlers. I have some good stories to tell you, but just be sure the stories are special. Ed was a very good person and a great friend. Roger
