Edward Scott Gandy

Edward "Scott" Gandy passed away unexpectedly at his home in Yulee, FL on December 19, 2025. He was 68. Born March 6, 1957 in Jacksonville, FL, Scott attended public schools in the Jacksonville area including Terry Parker High School and Fernandina Beach High School, completing his education at Florida Junior College in Jacksonville. Scott served proudly in the United States Air Force for over twenty-two years, where he continued his education, achieving the rank of Master Sargent upon retirement. Scott received many accommodations for his military service most notably the Presidential Meritorious Service Medal and, he served under President GHW Bush's drug interdiction task force while on loan to the DEA, with continued service in the Air National Guard. Scott was on station at his radar position when events of 9/11 unfolded and witnessed first-hand the closure of the entire US airspace, an unprecedented event that he could only later relate to us. Throughout his military career he traveled and lived in multiple locations including The Florida Keys; Sumpter, South Carolina; Pensacola, FL; Fairbanks, Alaska, and Rota, Spain.

Scott was a kind and compassionate soul who treasured early friendships that lasted a lifetime. He was a true child of the 60's and 70's and held fast to the music of that time. He was imbued with a good sense of humor and was at his best making us laugh by mimicking the gestures and body language of our beloved late father. He was devoted to his cats having adopted and rescued many, including his most recent long-time companion, Fetch, of over 19 years.

Scott was fortunate to discover his soul mate, Shearer Cook, late in life, with whom he was blessed to spend several loving years before her untimely passing. In addition to Shearer, he was predeceased by our Father, Ed Gandy, mother, Margie Gandy, and leaves to cherish his memories his sister Deborah Gandy McBride of Yulee, FL, brother Paul Gandy of Boca Raton, FL., and many cousins and close friends. We will miss him dearly.

A memorial service will be held 11:00am, Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd., Jacksonville, FL.
