Janice Gillette

February 22, 2016

I want to thank everyone so much for all the support and love they have shown me in this very difficult time of my life. My world crashed down on me the moment my husband passed away. He was so loving and generous I will miss him for the rest of my life. I miss him coming home and giving me a kiss and putting his arms around me. He would always say, "I Love you Sweet Pea", and I would respond "I love you to", then he would respond back "I love more". I will never find another Ed Gillette and will never love again the way I loved him. I miss you honey and I know you are looking over me and making sure that I will be alright. I know that I will see you again and we will be reunited and there will be no more pain only love. I am so proud to be your wife.

I just learned of Ed's passing. I was instantly transported back more than 20 yrs when I was a young auctioneer and Ed was a relatively new customer. We discovered we both wanted to attend an auction in Iowa, and I flew into Kansas City. I was met by this young, brash guy driving a green Lincoln Continental and away we flew, speeding up the interstate. At some point Ed was pulled over for speeding, and chacteristically , talked his way out of a ticket, all the while with a huge cigar clamped between his teeth. That was Ed. Larger than life, a great raconteur, and a warm and generous friend. Ed, I can hardly believe you're gone. Janice, my prayers are with you.

January 19, 2016

From myself and Alison Garner all my good brothers in Tonganoxie, were all going to miss you dearly and we cant thank you enough for al the legal issues you have helped us with over the years. Just keep us a spot in heaven cause were all looking forward to seeing you again. God bless you Brother.

In addition to being one of my top customers, Ed has been one of my best friends for years - he called me "cuz" for as long as I can remember. I was shocked at his unexpected death, as we had planned on meeting in Tampa the very next day at a major show. A great guy who will be sorely missed.

Where do I start? Not only were you an amazing attorney, you were an amazing friend, and I miss you already. You were always there for me through my difficult time, and made sure no one did any wrong to me. I still want to pick up the phone, and hear one of your great stories, and that contagious laugh of yours, which created that wonderful smile.I still can't grasp that you are gone, but I know you will still watch over all of us. Hugs, and prayers to your family, especially Janice, I unfortunately know what she is going through.

Janice, I know your loss is great and your heart is filled with sadness, but with the help of all the great memories of your time together and love of your family and friends will carry you through your loss and as the grief subsides you can remember the good times and smile.

I remember the first time I met young Ed,he was not far removed from law school and we were visiting a KCK antique shop and even then he had the same passion and convictions that made him the man I grew to know and like and I am proud to call him my friend.

I credit Ed with saving a close family members life after he made some poor decisions, but Ed pulled no punches, straightened him out and handled his case. We will always remember Ed for that as well.

May Gods grace shine upon him.

January 11, 2016

Ed, I knew you only from grade school through high school, but feel a deep sadness for your passing much to soon for all who knew and loved you. I see that you went on to do incredible things and how proud your family and everyone who knew you were of all you became. I sit here remembering the many times our paths crossed throughout our young lives and smile. You were a character back then, and clearly, one of a kind. I count myself lucky to have known you Ed, and thank you all those you helped legally and otherwise. Rest in peace and Godspeed your journey to heaven Ed.

Sincerely, Becky Black (AKA Revecca Rowland Greer.)

Sorry for the loss of a friend from my days living in Wyandotte County. He always had time to visit and show me his collection of post cards the super collection of election items. He was a collector and I was a junker! I remember one time we were at a BBQ at the lake and he gave us all a boat ride. He always had time for a cold beer. Had good times also when I would see him at the Court House or Sheriff's Office. God bless Ed and all the family. Terry J Clark. Villach Austria Europe

I was both saddened and shocked to hear about Ed. Although my relationship was as a client, Ed treated me like family. We had our own vocabulary, if you know what I mean. It will not be the same as I walk through the office doors but I will continue to walk through HIS doors. May you rest in peace Ed.
