Obituary of Edward Allen Glimpse
Edward Allen Glimpse, age 79, of Zimmerman, MN, passed away peacefully at M Health Fairview Northland Hospital in Princeton, MN, on February 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenna Glimpse; parents, Edward and Ellen (Kosel) Glimpse; brother, James Glimpse; sister, Yvonne Glimpse; and nephew, Damian Cassini. Ed will be deeply missed by his children, Juli (Larry) Bauer, James Glimpse, Jackson Sly, Melissa (Keith) Via, and Michelle (Daniel) McLeod; grandchildren, Daniel (Danielle) Bauer, Joshua (Brittney) Bauer, Thomas Bauer (Carli Niesen), and Laura (Christopher) McMillan; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Jersey, Easton, Beau, and Ellie Bauer, and Zakk McMillan; seven step-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren; sister, Sherri (Rick) Cassini; as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He also leaves behind his faithful Pug, Snickers, whom he lovingly referred to as his "little girl." Ed was born on October 24, 1945, and grew up in Moline, IL. After graduating from high school in 1963, he attended Concordia University in St. Paul, MN, where he met his first wife, Eileen Dorn. They were married in 1966. He worked for many years in the trucking industry as both a dispatcher and an independent truck owner/operator. At the age of 48, he returned to Concordia University. Ed married his second wife, Glenna Cole on October 29, 1994. He graduated with a degree in Religion/Theology in 1996. Following his graduation, he served as the Director of Christian Outreach at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in St. Cloud, MN. He later became a Synod Authorized Lay Minister, serving at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Franklin, MN beginning on October 1, 2005. He was commissioned as an Associate in Ministry (Deacon) April 25, 2009, and continued to serve at St. Luke's until his retirement on June 1, 2013. After retiring, they enjoyed spending time in Apache Junction, AZ, and Glenwood, MN. Ed and Glenna shared a loving marriage until her passing on September 23, 2014. Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, playing cards, and watching football and baseball. He also enjoyed crosswords, trivia puzzles, and spending time with family and friends. He was a loyal fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings - or any team that beat the Packers! Above all, Ed cherished his family, and the time spent with them. His legacy of love, faith, and dedication to his loved ones will be forever treasured. A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Tim Lindhorst, will be held on March 7, 2025, at 11:00 am at Atonement Lutheran Church in St. Cloud, MN. There will be a visitation at the church starting at 9:30 am before the service. A luncheon will be served afterwards. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorials be given to the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Foundation, PO Box 871847, Kansas City, MO 64187 or your local animal shelter.
