Scotty Grady
December 29, 1968 - February 16, 2024
Deep Run- Edward Scott "Scotty" Grady went home to be with his Lord and Savior after 55 short years on this earth. He was born in Lenoir County to Joyce Grady Hardy and the late Edward Earl Grady on December 29, 1968. In addition to his father, Scotty was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Louis Albert Grady; maternal grandparents, Nathan and Clara Skinner; father-in-law, Edward Langston; and uncle, Dennis King.
From a well-mannered and loving child, Scotty grew into a dependable and generous man. After high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. With the heart of a patriot, Scotty firmly believed in and sacrificed for God and Country. After his time in the Corps, Scotty continued his service for others. He aimed to help anyone in need and was loved by everyone he met. Scotty rarely complained, but was going to be heard when he did. He was a giant teddy bear and always gave the best hugs and forehead kisses.
Scotty's family was at the forefront of all he did. The needs of his wife, children, and family were always placed before his own. He worked hard to be a good provider, husband, father, son, and brother. Scotty's wife of 30 years was his best friend. The two spent countless evenings together watching movies and talking about life. Time spent with her and their children was never wasted.
Having lost his father at an early age, Scotty was the very definition of "mama's boy." He and his mother had a bond like no other. Whether sharing a box of fried chicken gizzards or stopping by to check in, Scotty cherished special times spent with her. Though he was 15 years older than his brother, Scotty and Sammy were thick as thieves. Even when times were tough, Scotty always made sure Sammy was looked after. He gave special gifts from his heart and even a box turtle from his hat.
Visitation will be held at Rouse Funeral Home on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 5-7 p.m.
Scotty is survived by his wife, Jennifer Langston Grady; mother and step-father, Joyce Grady Hardy and Edwin Hardy; children, Dustin Grady (Rachel) and Tara Piner (William); grandchildren, William Piner, Madilynn Grady, Emberlynn Hernandez, Kacie Piner, and Cameron Grady; brother, Sammy Hardy (Emily); sister-in-law, Dawn Lambert (Willie); brother-in-law, Robert Langston (Deborah); aunts, Carol King, Ginger Skinner Davis, and Janice Grady; nephews, Jordan Stallings, Matthew and Alex Langston; mother-in-law, Myrtle Langston; and grandmother, Eva Grace Grady; as well as many special family and friends.
