It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward Charles Gregor, age 84, on July 2, 2025.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday July 10th (his birthday) at 1pm at St. Matthew Catholic Church Chapel with Father Davis Celebrant.Born on July 10, 1940, in Warren, Ohio, Ed lived a life devoted to his family, friends, and passions.He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Jane, their sons Brian and Kevin, and their daughter Jill, along with her husband Junaid and their three children Ibrahim, Tayeb, and Yusuf. Ed is also survived by his brother, John Gregor, his wife Joie and their son John Jr.Ed was an avid golfer, proudly playing his age until he was 79. He earned a high school degree from Saint Marys in Warren Ohio and a degree in Business from Bowling Green University on a golf scholarship, which fueled his lifelong love for the game. Ed then graduated as a Lieutenant from the US Navy Officer Candidate School in 1963 and went on to become a Fleet Officer on the deck and chief navigator of the USS Newport News from 1964-1966.Over his 60-year career, Ed made a lasting impact in the Scientific Fabric and Technical Filtration industry, working an additional 36 years as a scientific consultant earning him the title, The King of Filtration." He was also a founding member of the American Filtration and Separations Society, where he held Emeritus standing. Ed was also a recipient of the Wells Shoemaker Award for Leadership (1994), Filtration Fellows Award (2001) and the Life Time Achievement Award (2009) with the AFS. Ed gave over 50 presentations at technical textile and filtration conferences and wrote over 60 professional scientific articles in related trade magazines and journals.Beyond his professional achievements, Ed had a passion for magic, gardening, and traveling, and his joyful spirit touched everyone around him.Please no flowers, but a donations can be made to Via Health Partners (https://www.viagiving.org/one-time-giving), whose hospice care provided tremendous comfort and support during his final days.Edward will be deeply missed by all who had the honor and privilege of knowing him.Arrangements have been entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home, Ballantyne Chapel.
