Edward Harvey Hansen, a cherished family man and esteemed member of the Raleigh community, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on October 22, 1945, in Essex Co., New Jersey, Edward's journey led him to Raleigh, North Carolina, where he became a well-respected business owner and a beloved figure among his friends and family.
Edward's life was one of dedication and service, marked by his entrepreneurial spirit. He was the proud owner of Copeland's Auto Supply until 2022, a business that not only provided for his family but also became a cornerstone of the local community. Edward's passion for automobiles extended beyond his business as he reveled in anything car-related, especially his prized possession, a 1987 Chevy Silverado. His love for cars was infectious, and he was always willing to share his extensive knowledge and lend a helping hand to fellow enthusiasts.
Known for his handy skills, Edward could fix almost anything, a talent he often used to help others. His kindness and gentle demeanor were traits that endeared him to all who knew him. Edward's presence brought a sense of calm and assurance to those around him, and his guidance was sought after by many.
Edward's family was the cornerstone of his life. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lula Hansen, parents, Frances and Edward Hansen, his brother, Art Hansen, niece, Elizabeth Hansen Brewington, and nephew, Arthur "Artie" Hansen IV. His legacy lives on through his devoted daughters, Shannon Hansen (Francisco) Gonzalez, Karen Hansen (Craig) Hunsinger, and Erin Hansen, as well as his adored grandchildren, three granddaughters and three grandsons. Each of them carries a piece of Edward's spirit, his love for life, and his unwavering kindness.
Edward's life was a testament to the power of love, hard work, and community. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Edward Harvey Hansen's memory will continue to inspire and influence, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many. His journey on earth has concluded, but the stories of his generosity, love, and the lives he touched will continue to be told for generations to come.
