Funeral services will be held 8PM Thursday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes Austintown Chapel for Edward Harmicar, 84, who passed away Tuesday morning at Hospice House. Ed was born October 29, 1927 in Youngstown the son of John Edward and Catherine (Muchway) Harmicar and was a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of South High School, was a WWII Navy Veteran, and had worked as a truck driver with Borden Ice Cream, retiring in August 1989. Ed was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, the Croatian Home, and the Eagles Club. His wife the former Ellen Dillon, whom he married June 18, 1948, passed away June 9, 1990. Ed leaves four children, Michael (Cheryl) Harmicar of Austintown, Susan Wilcox of Youngstown, Edward (Lori) Harmicar of Salem, and Kay (Gregg) Banyon of McDonald, one brother, Frank Harmicar of Poland, two sisters, Kathryne Marman of Michigan, and Louise Dominguez of Long Beach, California, as well as 9 grandchildren Keri (David Seman)Harmicar of Pittsburgh, PA, Kristine (Clyde) Woodson of Columbus, Ryan (Jamie) Pisella of Fowlerville, MI, Byron (Domarita) Wilcox of Columbus, Michael (Jennifer) Harmicar Jr. of Austintown, Amy Harmicar of Clearwater, FL, Kyle Harmicar of Columbus, Drew and Conor Banyon both of McDonald and 7 great grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, Ed was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Tom, and Bill Harmicar, and four sisters, Vickie Bisso, Helen Walters, Theresa Neary and Mary Harmicar. Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes Austintown Chapel where services will be held at 8PM. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Hospice House in Edward's name. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to J.P. Shah MD, his nurse practitioners Audrey Smith and Stephanie Eastek; the staff at Briarfield Manor, and the staff at Hospice House for their compassionate care for both Ed and his family.
