Edward Douglas Harris

Edward Douglas Harris was the fifth child born to the union of Edna Whiting Harris and Nathan Daniel Harris Sr.

He made his entrance into his earthly life experience on July 31, 1956 and transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday, December 28, 2025.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents, brothers, Nathan Daniel Harris Jr, Thomas Marshall Harris, Michael Steven Harris along with a host of ancestors, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who were all there to welcome him into his heavenly home.

Fondly referred to by Eddie for some and Ducey by others, he was educated in the Charlottesville Public School system. He often spoke about how the successes he made, during his educational journey, were a result of Ms. Josephine Whitsett and Ms. Teresa Walker-Price being a constant source of support and encouragement. Ms. Walker-Price remained a special friend throughout all of his professional endeavors.

Eddie left an indelible imprint in the Charlottesville, Virginia community with his dedication and commitment to the Real Dads and Ready Kids Programs. He leaves a legacy as the Founder of the Vinegar Hill magazine.

He has been most remembered as a kind, caring and always willing to help kind of person.

His loving memory is left to be cherished by, one son Ricco Harris, two sisters Frances Waller of Woodbridge, VA, Patricia Harris of Atlanta, Georgia, his grandchildren Ricara, Madison and Valentino Harris all of Charlottesville, VA along with two nieces Lisa Harrigan (John) of Sugarland, Texas, Patrice Harris of Charlottesville, VA, three nephews Derrick Williams and Patrick Waller of Woodbridge, VA and Isaiah Harris of Charlottesville, VA.

Eddie's family extended to his special daughter Kejah Ford, who served as a caregiver to him along with her daughters Da'Kailah, Danielle, D'Essence and Dionna Watson.

A special note of "thanks" is extended to Cyndi Terrell Richardson, Tonya Harris, Shelia Ford and Crystal Shiflett for all of their caring acts of kindness during Eddie's illness.
