I had the privilege to be part of the integration in 1964. I was one of 8 girls to be a cheerleader for all four years. I had many classes with Ed and Ron and Norman as well as a lot of the football players including Garrett Ford and John Mallory. On and off Possum was my dance partner in a class athletes took for coordination. We had so many laughs together and what I see in my mind when I think about him is that great big smile. It lit up the room and made it brighter and better for all of us.
I extend my deepest condolences for your great loss. I know that he's in heaven smiling and going "1 2 cha cha cha." RIP friend, Suz

I had the pleasure of playing with Possum and knowing him personally from 1965-1969 at WVU. Ed was a real gentleman and hard worker. Eddie never had a harsh word about anybody or anything. I last saw him at a memorial for Fritz, and got to know his work history and personal life. Possum had not changed a bit. He was concerned about what I was doing and my family. Ed always had a smile on his face. When I found out he was a teacher and administrator,,I was so impressed that he went into education as I did,,,because that kind of person needs to pass on that great optimism and spirit to young kids. We love you Possum. Rest in peace from all of us at WVU basketball who knew you and loved you.

Mr. Harvard did so much for us whether it was driving us to Philly to play in the Sonny Hill League or loading up his car to head to Metro Index basketball camp. I will never forget those days and all that he gave for his players. He will be sadly missed.

As a member of Weir High´s 1962 state runner up team with Fritz and Possum, I remember them well. Sadly, they are both now gone along with "Tobe" Thompson. I last saw Ed at Tobe´s funeral in Weirton.
We should have won that game in `62.
RIP Possum.

I was too young to have ever seen Mr. Harvard play for WVU. But I love the fact that he was one of the first African Americans to suit up for the errs! I will be thinking about you and your family at this time.

So sorry to learn of Ed's passing. I was at WVU during his playing time. Harvard, Holmes, & Williams -- what a dynamic trio on the court. Ed was always a sparkplug. Something good was going to happen when he came into the game. He seemed to play "hard but happy." My prayers are with your family.
