TRENARY, MI - Edward N. Hendrickson, age 91, of Trenary entered eternal life on Monday, August 12, 2024 at the Norlite Nursing Center where he had been a resident. Ed was born on May 16, 1933 in Detroit and was raised in Hancock where he was a graduate of Hancock High School. Following graduation from high school Ed worked for the City of Hancock as a police officer and later moved to Trenary where he started his career as an operating engineer working for A. Lindberg & Sons. Ed has a tremendous work ethic and finally retired with 65 years of service with the operating engineers Local 324. In his spare time he was an active member of the Trenary Fire Department where he held all positions including Fire Chief. In his younger years he was very involved in Ice Hockey and was instrumental in keeping the Ice Rink in Trenary going.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Evelyn Mae Hendrickson of Trenary; his son, Ricky (Joan) Hendrickson of Trenary and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Delmar "Delly" Heinelt and his aunt Lila Hendrickson.
Friends may call at the Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm with funeral services held in the funeral home at 1:00 pm. A reception will follow in the funeral home reception room. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Trenary Fire Department.
