Edward W. Hermreck, age 70, of Greeley, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehab in Baldwin City, Kansas.
Edward was born on February 10, 1955, to Eugene and Florine (Lickteig) Hermreck, in Garnett, Kansas. Ed went to school at St. John's in Greeley and Greeley High School until his senior year when the school closed and he graduated from Garnett High with the Class of 1973. After graduation, Ed went on to work for Sutherland Lumber for a couple years until going on to work at Taylor Forge until retirement. Ed was a member of the Boilermakers Local #84 for over 40 years. Ed had a passion for farming, taking care of his cattle and being a perfectionist at bailing hay or anything he did. Ed enjoyed gardening and was great at doing it. His working career helped support his fishing and garage sale "buying" habits. Once it came onto the property, it did not leave. "Once bought, never sold"
Ed was an outdoorsman, and a simple man, but was never known for being punctual. If you wanted Ed to be there on time, tell him an hour early. Ed would not pass up a smorgasbord and under no circumstances call it a buffet.
Ed's greatest love was to fish-day and night, Cracker his beloved dog Terrier was his fishing buddy, when she heard the bait clicker, she would wake Ed for the bite.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Jason Smith; his beloved dog, Cracker.
He is survived by his siblings, Ronald Hermreck and wife Donna, of Scipio, Kansas, Timothy Hermreck of Baldwin, Kansas, Pauline Sherman and husband Richard of Lawrence, Kansas, Louise Smith and husband Kenneth of Ottawa, Kansas, Alvin Hermreck of Greeley, Kansas, Cindy Hermreck of Lawrence, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
