Edward Howard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cremation Society of Berks County, Inc. on Feb. 7, 2024.
Edward Leon Howard, 87, of Douglassville, PA, was called to his eternal home on Friday, February 2, 2024. Born in North Little Rock, AR, he resided in Chester County most of his life, spent 25 years in Massachusetts, and settled in Berks County for the last 9 years. He was the son of the late Leon Howard and Mary "Hazel" Howard. Ed was preceded in death by the love of his life, Linda Payne Howard, and his brother, Chuck Howard.
He is survived by his sister, Leonett Dzielak Hampson, his children, Terry Miller (Bob), Holly Smith (Roger), Brian Howard (Lynda), Darron "Zeke"Howard (Maura), his stepdaughter, Sue Moquin (Rick), grandchildren; Georgia Zeh (John), Heather Troupe (Mike), Jeremy Barr (Izzy), Taylor White, Jessica Moquin (Sam), Mackenzie Moquin (Mary), and 9 great-grandchildren.
Ed loved the Lord and was a devoted family man. He was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church, a Certified Lay Speaker, and a member of the Spring-Ford Masonic Lodge #553. Following his pilgrim Walk to Emmaus, he volunteered and participated in many other Walks. Ed served in the National Guard for 6 years and had a
penchant for discussion of military offensives and armaments. He was a biblical scholar and history buff. He enjoyed flying, boating, motorcycles, sky diving, scuba diving, cooking, and "classic" movies.
A Celebration of Life will begin with a visitation at 1pm followed by a service at 2pm on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Bethel United Methodist Church, Spring City, PA. Ed regularly stated that he was "not into horticulture," therefore, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church and designated for the Project Outreach Food Pantry. Interment will be private.
