Edward Elmer James

Edward Elmer James, born April 3, 1943 in McDowell, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025 in Guilford County, North Carolina, at the age of 82.

Edward dedicated many years to the construction industry, where his hard work and skill left a lasting impact on countless projects and colleagues. He also enjoyed woodworking - building, repairing and creating things with patience and care. He loved the simple, everyday pleasures in life: going out to eat, taking road trips, spending time at the beach or in the mountains, and wandering through flea markets and yard sales. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, and whether he was making a deal along the roadside or sharing a joke over a cup of coffee, he had a gift for making people laugh.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Virginia James, and nine siblings who have surely welcomed him home. He is survived by his beloved spouse of 34 years, Melissa, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories. He is also survived by his six children - three sons and three daughters - and a son-in-law and daughter-in-law who loved him dearly. His legacy continues through eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, as well as three sisters, two brothers, and many nieces and nephews who will miss him deeply.

A visitation will be held at Triad Cremation & Funeral Service on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 12 p.m. with services following at 2 p.m. Friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, and honor a man who brought humor and warmth into the lives of so many.

Edward's spirit and love for life will forever remain in the hearts of those he left behind.
