Edward Gregory Johnson Jr.

Edward Gregory Johnson, a man who cherished travel, treasured his family's history, and never missed a family gathering, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026. He was 70 years old.

Born on May 4, 1955, in Lansing, Michigan, Eddie was the son of Edward G. and Barbara (Kessler) Johnson. He grew up with a deep appreciation for family roots and carried that passion throughout his life, often sharing stories and memories that kept generations connected.

In June of 2001, Eddie married Margaret Alice Burt, beginning a partnership built on love, laughter, and shared adventures. Together they created a home filled with warmth and pride. Eddie found joy in the simple pleasures-spending peaceful hours fishing, and watching storms roll in, tinkering for hours in his garage, deer hunting in the quiet of the woods, and riding his Harley on open roads and restoring Harley's. He took great pride in working alongside his family on their property, valuing both the labor and the time spent together.

Eddie dedicated 30 years of service to General Motors before retiring in 2011. His strong work ethic and steady presence were hallmarks of both his career and his home life.

Above all, Eddie was proud of his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; his children, Jacob, Erica, and Mackenzie Johnson; and his cherished grandchildren, Bryanna and Elijah. He is also survived by his siblings, Janet Walker, Pat Johnson, and Thomas Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bill Johnson; and his sister, Judy Spagnuolo.

Eddie will be remembered for his loyalty to family, his love of adventure, and the steady, dependable presence he brought to all who knew him.
