Edward Johnson Sr., of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, at the age of 73.
Edward was born to Robert and Viola Johnson in Alabama, the fourth of nine siblings. He carried with him the warmth, humor, and easygoing spirit of his southern roots. Throughout his life, he found joy in simple pleasures, like a sunny day spent barbecuing, the laughter of loved ones gathered around, and the comfort of sharing a good meal with family and friends. Edward was known for his generous heart and his ability to make everyone feel welcome. His home was often filled with the smell of something cooking on the grill and the sound of stories being told well into the evening. Those who knew him will remember his kindness, his steady presence, and the way he made even ordinary days feel special. Edward touched the lives of many and will be remembered with deep afection by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Behind him he leaves his mother Viola, siblings: Lester (Lorna), Alberta (James), Linda (Curtis), Arlean (Chante), Cheretha (Michael); four children: Tony (Angelique), Michelle (Aaron), Tauna (Carlos), and Edward Jr (Kristen), as well as a bonus daughter Demaria; and sixteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Robert, siblings: Clyde (Diane), Perlie, and Fernando (Tamera, who survives him), and one grandchild.
He will be dearly missed and forever remembered for the warmth he shared and the love he gave so freely
