Edward Jolley Obituary

Mr. Edward Jolley, Jr.
Savannah, GA
EDWARD BURDETTE JOLLEY JR., son of the late Rosetta James Jolley and Edward Burnette Jolley, was born April 1, 1961, in Easton, Maryland. He received his early education in Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated in 1980 from Northwestern High School in Park Heights, Maryland, where he excelled in football and track.
After high school, Edward continued his education, earning the Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Morgan State University and the Master of Business Administration degree from Regis University. Edward enrolled in the Organization and Leadership doctoral program at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore where his status was ABD (all but dissertation).
Known by his colleagues as "Jolley," he established himself as a leader at an early age. While a scholar-athlete in high school, he was employed as a manager at the first black owned McDonald's established in Baltimore City limits.
After graduating from Morgan State University, Jolley began his career with Ernest & Young Accounting firm in the Baltimore office, which began his nearly four-decade career in accounting. He made his mark in higher education, providing financial and business leadership for several highly regarded public and private higher education institutions to include Morgan State University, Eastern Michigan State University, Norfolk State University, St. Paul's College and Savannah State University, where he served as Vice President from 2007 to 2019.
Jolley was deeply committed to communities where he lived and to the youth of those communities. He has provided leadership on a broad number of non-profit boards to include the King-Tisdell Cottage Foundation Inc., 100 Black Men of Savannah Inc., The First Tee of Savannah, YMCA of Coastal Georgia and Oglethorpe Charter School. Above all, Jolley was a dedicated husband, father, son, brother, mentor, leader, colleague and friend.
May we never forget his love for God, and family, his humor, his passion for humanity and strive for excellence.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 27, 2021 Live-Streamed by OVERCOMINGBYFAITH.ORG at Howell Funeral Home Chapel located 4600 Liberty Heights Avenue Baltimore, MD 21207.

I am truly devastated to learn that Jolley has passed. He was my supervisor when I was director of physical plant at NSU. He was my defender, mentor and friend. I left NSU shortly after he did because things were insufferable without him. Please accept my sincere condolences and may the peace that surpasses all understanding be with your family in what must be a very difficult time. Peace and Blessings.

Ed was a tremendous professional. I worked with him at Ernst & Young upon
his graduation from Morgan State. I truly enjoyed working with him and socializing with he and Tammie. Unfortunately, time has passed and we both went to different parts of the country as a result of career opportunities. But, I always thought about Ed's development at the firm and in higher education. Our prayers and thoughts are with Tammie and the family. God Bless each of you

One of a kind cousin. I will always remember your kindness, smile and love for your family. I never will forget your generosity in letting me use your vehicle when I totaled my car. I told you no one has ever done anything like that for me and that is who you were. I will miss the talks and laughter we shared over the years. God knew best. Love you till we meet again.
